This is for tomorrow

I look upon your face
through the filter of the early
morning light

I watched you as you struggled through
another long
sleepless night

At times I don’t know why
you’re always worried about
what’s been done
and what’s to come

So tell me about tomorrow
Is it as good as yesterday?
Why are you always rushing?
You’re missing out on what’s today

Laughing together
Makes me hopeful
That we’ll be ok

I wish that I could
show you how your smile
brightens up my day

It fills the space
between you thinking too much
About what’s been done
And what’s to come

So tell me about tomorrow
Is it as good as yesterday?
Why are you always rushing?
You’re missing out on what’s today

I hate to see you suffering
Missing out on every day
If you’d only be with me a while
We’ll find our way

So tell me about tomorrow
Is it as good as yesterday?
Why are you always rushing?
You’re missing out on what’s today
